How IMPACT Works is helping connect local residents with digital skills, career pathways, and new opportunities

Building Skills. Opening Doors. Growing Jackson County.

Introducing IMPACT Works: Grow Jackson County

At IMPACT Learning Center, we believe education should do more than offer information. It should create opportunity. It should build confidence. It should help people take the next step toward a stronger future.

That belief is at the heart of IMPACT Works: Grow Jackson County, IMPACT Learning Center’s workforce development initiative designed to connect local residents with practical learning opportunities, digital skills training, career readiness support, and pathways toward meaningful credentials.

This initiative was created with one goal in mind: to help Jackson County citizens build the skills, confidence, and support they need to move forward in today’s workforce.

Why IMPACT Works Matters

Workforce development is not only about jobs. It is about people.

It is about the adult learner who wants to strengthen their resume but does not know where to start. It is about the parent who needs stronger computer skills to apply for jobs, communicate online, or help their child with schoolwork. It is about the high school senior who wants to graduate with more than a diploma — they want to graduate with a plan. It is about the small business owner who wants to become more comfortable with digital tools. It is about the community member who knows they are capable of more but needs access, encouragement, and opportunity.

Through IMPACT Works, we are working to meet people where they are and help them take the next step.

What IMPACT Works Includes

IMPACT Works: Grow Jackson County brings together several opportunities designed to support learners at different stages of life, education, and career development.

Through this initiative, participants may have access to programs such as:

Grow with Google Career Certificate scholarships-These online certificate programs help participants build job-ready skills in high-demand fields such as IT Support, Project Management, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing & E-Commerce, UX Design, AI Essentials, and more.

Tech Goes Home classes-These free digital skills classes help participants build confidence using technology, online tools, email, internet safety, Google Docs, and other resources that are useful for work, school, communication, and everyday life. Participants who complete the required program may also qualify for a free laptop.

IMPACT Certificate Pathway Classes-These free monthly classes are designed to help community members build real-world skills in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment. Participants who attend all required sessions may receive an official IMPACT Certificate of Completion.

Career readiness and workforce preparation-

IMPACT Works also supports resume development, career exploration, digital literacy, confidence-building, and connections to local workforce needs and opportunities.

Supporting Students Before Graduation

One of the newest and most exciting parts of IMPACT Works is the opportunity to include eligible high school seniors in the Google Career Certificate scholarship waiting list.

Beginning with the next semester, IMPACT will accept eligible seniors from Jackson County Schools, Scottsboro City Schools, and the Jackson County homeschool network.

This gives students the opportunity to begin building job-ready skills before they graduate, helping them prepare for employment, future education, or additional training. For some students, this may be the first step toward a career path they had not yet considered. For others, it may be a way to strengthen their confidence and add meaningful credentials to their future resume or portfolio.

At IMPACT, we believe students deserve access to opportunity before they are expected to have everything figured out.

Building Confidence Along the Way

One of the most important parts of IMPACT Works is not just the training itself. It is the support that surrounds it.

Many people want to learn new skills, but they may feel intimidated by technology, unsure about returning to a classroom setting, or uncertain about where to begin. IMPACT Works is designed to help remove some of those barriers.

Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where participants feel encouraged, supported, and capable. Whether someone is learning how to use Google Docs, completing a career certificate, attending a technology class, or preparing for a new job opportunity, we want them to know they do not have to take that step alone.

Confidence matters. Support matters. Access matters.

Growing Jackson County Together

IMPACT Works is also about strengthening our community.

When local residents gain new skills, our entire community benefits. Families benefit. Employers benefit. Schools benefit. Local industries benefit. Most importantly, individuals gain tools they can carry forward into their work, education, businesses, and everyday lives.

This initiative is not meant to replace the important work already being done by schools, employers, workforce partners, or community organizations. Instead, IMPACT Works is designed to support, connect, and strengthen those efforts.

By working together, we can help create more pathways for Jackson County citizens to learn, grow, and succeed.

Looking Ahead

IMPACT Works: Grow Jackson County is still growing, and we are excited about what is ahead.

As new classes, scholarships, partnerships, and opportunities become available, IMPACT Learning Center will continue working to connect community members with resources that are practical, accessible, and meaningful.

Whether you are a student preparing for life after graduation, an adult learner exploring a new direction, a job seeker building your skills, a business owner wanting to use technology more confidently, or a community member ready to learn something new, IMPACT is here to help.

At IMPACT Learning Center, we believe opportunity should be within reach.

And through IMPACT Works, we are helping Jackson County build skills, open doors, and grow forward together.
