Dolly Parton's Imagination Library- Jackson County, Alabama

Since October 2022, IMPACT Learning Center has proudly served as the home of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for Jackson County, Alabama, helping put books directly into the hands—and homes—of our community’s youngest learners.

The Imagination Library provides one free, age-appropriate book every month to enrolled children from birth until their fifth birthday, regardless of family income. A child enrolled at birth can receive as many as 60 books before beginning kindergarten, helping families build home libraries while encouraging early literacy, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading.

Since the Jackson County program began, more than 80,000 books have been mailed to local children, and today approximately 2,000 books are sent to Jackson County homes each month.

Although the books are free to participating families, they are not free to the local program. Through Alabama’s partnership with the Imagination Library, the state helps cover approximately half of the cost, while the Jackson County program is responsible for the remaining portion. IMPACT’s local cost averages approximately $1.30 per child, per book—or about $15.60 per child each year.

That means a gift of just $1.30 can help put a book in the hands of a Jackson County child for one month, while approximately $15.60 can help support an entire year of reading.

At IMPACT Learning Center, we believe education begins long before a child enters a classroom. Every book delivered represents another bedtime story, another moment shared between a child and caregiver, another new word learned, and another opportunity for a child to discover just how big the world—and their dreams—can be.

By supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library through IMPACT Learning Center, you are doing more than helping purchase books.

You are investing in Jackson County’s children, families, and future—one book at a time.

Read. Imagine. Learn. Grow.
