In the push to increase safety measures in schools, IMPACT Learning Center in Jackson County has donated $50,000 to be split between the Jackson County School system and the Scottsboro City School system.
Jackson County Superintendent Kevin Dukes said that the county’s portion is $37,500.
“We are looking at identifying doors most used and putting necessary security devices on and possibly adding more cameras in necessary spots,” said Dukes. “We also are looking at ways to do a better job of locking classroom doors from the inside.”
Dukes also talked about the importance of IMPACT in Jackson County education.
“It is something we appreciate,” said Dukes. “People do not understand how important IMPACT is to education in Jackson County. We encourage people to support their upcoming Luau fundraiser. That money comes back to support the school system.”
The IMPACT Learning Center’s Low County Luau is an annual event that takes place on April 27 at 7 p.m.
